You are a struggling artist.

Perhaps you are an impressionist in the 19th Century, a Renaissance portrait painter who has the misfortune of being a woman, a contemporary textile artist fitting your art in between work shifts, a ceramic craftsman from the Han Dynasty, or a marble sculptor in the ancient world.

All that matters is you are struggling.

Buried with the Artist is a solo journaling game that uses the Wretched and Alone system based on The Wretched by Chris Bissette.

To play, you will need:

• A standard deck of cards with the jokers removed
• A 6-sided dice
• 10 tokens
• A jenga or other tumbling block tower (optional - alternatives provided)
• Something to write in, such as a notebook or word processor

This game includes themes of suspense, despair, hopelessness, suicide, and death.

This game is designed to make success very difficult and very unlikely. It is meant to be a challenging and harrowing and emotional journey. If that doesn't sound fun to you, that's absolutely fine.

Remember that you can change, ignore, rewrite or abandon any part of this game that you want. This is your story.
